Existence of first conjugate resp. focal points for systems of the form \(\ddot y(t)+ A(t)y(t)= 0\), where \(A(\cdot)\) is only assumed to be a continuous \(n\times n\) matrix, is studied. Also the relationship between positivity of certain solutions of the adjoint system and conjugate points is investigated.
