A Remez type algorithm for generalized spline spaces (Q1316593)

The theoretical background is introduced in section 1. Section 2 contains the description of the algorithm which yields a sequence \((s_ m)\) of generalized spline functions. Section 3 shows that this sequence \((s_ m)\) converges to a ``nearly'' best uniform approximation \(s\). In the last section some numerical examples in generalized spline space and in polynomial spline space are compared.
