The authors have solved two-dimensional problems of unsteady seepage of a heavy fluid into a uniform unsaturated porous soil from a single channel and from an infinite periodic system of identical channels. The solution is obtained in the framework of ``instantaneous saturation model'' according to which the gradual penetration of the fluid into the pores is replaced by instantaneous filling of the pores with the fluid. The force of gravity is the cause of seepage into the soil which starts at time \(t=0\).
