This paper studies the viscous instability of a plane incompressible (submerged) jet in a uniform magnetic field. Two approaches are used: the first is via a numerical resolution of the eigenvalue problem which arises from a linearised instability analysis, the second investigates instability in a nonlinear regime where the average flow is determined from the boundary layer equations.
