Three problems of convective stability in a spherical liquid layer are considered. They differ with respect to the degree of ``freedom'' of the surface: a free, but nondeformable surface (a small droplet on a spider's web will serve as a model), a nonfree deformable surface (a droplet contaminated with an insoluble surface active agent), and a rigid unrestrained shell (dust-covered droplet).
