In the first part of the paper the author is concerned with the equation \(Lu= H(u)\), where \(L: X\to Y\) is a linear Fredholm operator and \(H: Y\to Y\) is continuous. The Nielsen-Wecken fixed poin theory and Mawhin's coincidence degree are used. Applications to positive/periodic solutions to differential equations and integro-partial differential equations are given.
