In the paper the density of polynomials in three special Sobolev-type function spaces on the interval \([-1,1]\) is proved. These results complete and unify to a certain extend earlier work by some of the three authors. The problems are motivated by consideration of the spectral representation of certain Jacobi-type orthogonal polynomials.
