Making use of the concept of variable number operators as well as shifting operator series with variable coefficients in the operational field of Mikusinski, the paper concerns the solution of three-order linear difference equations with variable coefficients. Improved formulae for some special three-order linear difference equations with variable coefficients are derived and attempts to provide methods for solving higher order variable coefficients equations are made.
