The paper states, that the church at the village of Glendaruel in the west of Scotland is the focal point of the parish of Kilmodan in the presbytery of Dunoon. There is a plaque above a picture of Colin Maclaurin on the south wall of the church, bearing the inscription in memory of John Maclaurin, minister of Kilmodan, his eldest son John Maclaurin and his youngest son Colin Maclaurin, Professor of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh. The author of this article gives also a brief biography of Colin Maclaurin (1698--1746).
