Based on the Ph.D. thesis of one of the authors, the paper provides numerically obtained convergence rates of piecewise constant and piecewise linear collocation methods for solving second kind integral equations with the double layer potential or its adjoint on the boundary of a circle and a square. The authors do not realize that a complete mathematical and numerical analysis of these simple problems has been known for a long time.
