We report on a new and in some senses nontraditional way to apply Green's matrices to a numerical solution of boundary value problems for partial differential equations. We attempt to demonstrate the computational effectiveness of a semianalytical formulation for solution of external boundary value problems, modelling the contact phenomenon by a two- dimensional theory of elasticity. Linear and nonlinear statements that relate to problems with given and unknown zones of contact, respectively, have been successfully treated by means of the proposed approach.
