The parametric excitation of standing spatial waves at the interface of a viscous two-layered heavy fluid which completely fills a vessel of arbitrary shape that executes vertical oscillations is studied. The viscosity of the fluid is assumed to be low, which enables one to use ideas from boundary-layer theory and the Krylov-Bogolyubov method of averaging. General formulae are specified for vessels in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped and a circular cylinder.
