This technical note is concerned with the stress analysis of an elastic sandwich plate with soft cores. A kinematic assumption which is Mindlin's hypothesis for elastic plates is introduced for the sandwich plate. The governing equations of sandwich plate are given in variational form under a transversely distributed load. The displacement ratio in comparison with the distributed load is numerically studied for a three layer sandwich plate under various boundary conditions. The paper with static applications overlooks the significant contributions on the subject [\textit{T. Lewiński}, J. Eng. Math. 25, No. 3, 223-242 (1991; Zbl 0780.73046) and references therein], and it may appeal to engineers studying the elastic behavior of layered plates.
