The Fundamental Theorem of Natural Selection says that the mean fitness of a population which is ideal up to selective influences increases from generation to generation if the population is not in genetic equilibrium. In this paper it is proved that in this case the mean fitness needs not increase along the whole line from one gene frequency vector to the next one.
