This article deals with \(P\)-localization of groups which may not be nilpotent. The existence of the relevant \(P\)-localizing functors follows from work of \textit{P. Ribenboim} [Lect. Notes Math. 740, 444-456 (1979; Zbl 0425.20032)]. The author studies the effect of these functors on groups \(G\) which arise as a semidirect product whose normal factor is finite abelian.
