The inequalities of the reviewer [Acta Math. Acad. Sci. Hung. 36, 215-232 (1980; Zbl 0471.10034)] and \textit{N. M. Timofeev} [Acta Arith. 58, 113-131 (1991; Zbl 0726.11060)] on the concentration function of additive functions are extended to real multiplicative functions and are applied to certain limiting distribution problems.
