Given a group \(G\) and an arbitrary topology \(t\) on \(G\), the author presents a method of construction of the finest group topology on \(G\) contained in \(t\), say \(g(t)\). It is also shown that if a topology \(t\) is locally connected and invariant under left and right translations, then \(g(t)\) is locally connected.
