Dynamical systems under constraints arise quite naturally and this poses some problems towards their quantization. Within Dirac's approach it is necessary to eliminate the second class constraints, and the authors of the paper under review have developed a procedure how to do this effectively. The proposed method rests on the extension of the phase space and conversion of the second class constraints into Abelian first class constraints. After that the system can be quantized following BFV functional integration quantization which is designed to deal just with first class constraints. Using this formalism they prove quantum equivalence of the initial and final systems.
