A multisteps successive optimal construction procedure of state feedback gains in both continuous-time and discrete-time multivariable linear systems is presented. It is a generalization of the previous results of Solheim and Amin. The presented results play an important role in the two-degree-of-freedom design method for linear-quadratic-integral servo systems and in other design methods of linear control systems.
