Development of generalized block correction procedures for the solution of discretized Navier-Stokes equations (Q1330649)

A solution strategy, incorporating a generalized block correction procedure, is presented for the efficient solution of the discretized Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible flow. This solution method utilizes an iterative solution on the fine grid and a direct solution for corrections on the coarse grid. It has the low storage requirements of iterative methods and robust convergence properties of direct methods resulting in substantial savings in the computational effort over a conventional iterative solution.
