The nonlinear Rayleigh-Taylor stability of a liquid layer over a vapour layer of finite depth has been examined using the method of multiple scales and taking into account the effect of heat and mass transfer. In the general case, it is found that the region of stability increases. The size of the bubbles which detach from the interface will be smaller compared to the ones obtained under restricted flows.
