The author establishes a distance relation for corresponding points of two confocal (possibly degenerate) quadrics linked via an affinity of Euclidean \(n\)-space. This interesting result is in fact a far-reaching generalization of Ivory's theorem on confocal ellipsoids in Euclidean 3- space.
