Harmonic waves in a random system of elastic layers (Q1332464)

The system of a finite number of different elastic layers is considered. The first layer and the last one adhere to rigid walls. Harmonic wave is propagating through the system. The possible frequencies satisfy algebraic equation in the form of continued fractions. The case of the random layer distribution is considered. The probability distribution of eigenfrequencies is calculated.
