The paper searches for a relationship between the physical, characteristic elements of the Kepler orbit and the abstract, theoretical formulation of the Kustaaheimo-Stiefel (KS) map. A simple hodograph approach to the integrals of the Keplerian motion is given. The KS-map represents a particular roto-dilation in the physical Euclidean space which carries the third vector of the fixed reference frame onto the position vector of the orbiting particle.
