This paper uses the generalized thermohydrodynamics ensuing from an extension of the state space of the system which includes the stress tensor and the diffusion flux among the independent hydrodynamic variables. Such an extension can be made on the basis of the so-called extended irreversible thermodynamics. This description is applied here to compute wavevector- and frequency- dependent expressions for the transport coefficients of a binary solution consisting of a viscoelastic fluid in a viscous solvent. Within a linearized scheme, the dynamic structure factor is obtained and compared with other expressions existing in the literature.
