The authors give an example of a nonlinear dynamical control system with a dynamical output feedback such that, for an appropriate choice of the initial conditions and for any choice of the controller, the closed loop system has an unmeasured state with the finite escape time property. This example describes a phenomenon which is an obstruction to global stabilization by dynamic output feedback. Moreover, the system under consideration is globally state feedback stabilizable and completely observable.
