The author discusses the different (mostly book keeping) problems that appear if one switches between different representations of boundaries of objects that are not \(PL\)-manifolds. In particular, he discusses representations where different elements of the parameter plane are mapped onto the same element in space and representations where only one side of an edge belongs to a defined object. Special attention is given to chamfering nonmanifold edges into manifold objects. The paper is descriptive.
