In the first part of the paper, the authors study Barthel's connection (\(Y\)-connection) on an \(n\)-dimensional point Finsler space. Then they present, in detail, two physical examples from electron optics and thermodynamics and show that the magnetic potential field in a magnetostatic electron microscope has non-constant scalar curvature. The last result is an affirmative answer to a conjecture of Ingarden [cf. Trav. Soc. Sci. Lettr. Wroclaw, Ser. B No. 45, 1-60 (1957; Zbl 0080.21002)].
