A model is studied for the approximately plan-parallel flow consisting of a layer of two viscous fluids (ice-sediment mixture) overlaid by a viscous fluid layer (pure ice) down an inclined surface. When the interface momentum production terms are set to zero, the authors prove that only singular or physically restrictive solutions exist; on the other hand, the regularization of the problem is demonstrated when these terms are nonzero.
