Using Hamilton's principle, the differential equations of rotating beam with constitutive equations of Timoshenko type (shear deformations are taken into account) are formulated. Method of separation of variables is used to obtain the solution. The simplified analysis valid for the case when shear stiffness is large is proposed and compared with the full analysis. The case of a beam under moving load is also analyzed.
