The author establishes the exact bounds for uniform approximation by \(r\)th degree cardinal spline interpolants for the real axis case as well as for \(p\)-periodic interpolation, where \(r\) and \(p\) are arbitrary positive integers, thus improving a result of Reimer who considered only the case where \(r\) and \(p\) are odd.
