The author defines acceleration of convergence of a sequence of intervals using the segment limit introduced by \textit{Bl. Sendov} [Hausdorff approximations (1990; Zbl 0715.41001); for the Russian original see (1979; Zbl 0416.41002)]. The Aitken-\(\Delta^ 2\) acceleration process has been generalized for interval sequences. A characterization of the acceleration is given for the case when the interval sequence converges to a degenerate interval.
