The chaotic behavior of a quantum two-level system contained in a single-mode cavity is studied by means of (recently introduced) quantum characteristic exponents. The authors describe a way to understand the origin of sensitivity of `semiquantal trajectories' to initial conditions. They conclude that the chaotic behavior of the model is the result of quantum time evolution as well as of the approximation procedure used.
