The method described in this paper for constructing models allows reconstructing sickness rate values for age groups for which representative data are absent. The models thus obtained can be used to estimate risks and other epidemiological indicators. The described method can be applied to studying any age-related health indicators. The change from the standard averaged models to models which take into account the age structure is a step forward in the analysis of morbidity data. To construct the models we used the sickness rate data for 5,000 children who received a radiation dose on the thyroid of more than 2 rem as a result of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.
