The authors argue to conclude that the eddy viscosity coefficient is a fourth-order tensor. Utilizing the concept of Moore-Penrose's generalized inverse matrices, the computational formula for the components of the eddy viscosity tensor has been obtained. For two-dimensional flows, eddy viscosity tensor has been observed to have only 9 independent components; this number reduces to 6 when the fluid is incompressible. Explicit formulas for such 6 components have been provided.
