The article studies existence, uniqueness, and stability for a diffusion problem in a nonhomogeneous environment. Conditions are given which assure the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the four steady-state boundary value problems. The stability results are obtained using an appropriate Lyapunov function and deriving differential inequalities to be satisfied by the parameters of the problem.
