The paper is concerned with methods for automatically generating triangular resp. tetrahedral meshes (suitable, e.g., for finite element computations) for domains in \(\mathbb{R}^ 2\) or \(\mathbb{R}^ 3\). First, general procedures for constructing meshes point by point are described. In the ``boundary integrity'' phase, methods for preserving resp. regenerating, in the mesh generating process, the essential properties of the boundary of the domain are presented. Finally, some practical examples are shown.
