This presentation focuses on some of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques developed in the past decade in the Laboratory of Thermal Turbomachines, National Technical University of Athens, for aerodynamic analysis and design purposes. Undertaken projects involve two- and three-dimensional applications, in different Mach number and Reynolds number regimes. In order to cover the whole range, different modelling approaches and numerical techniques have been adopted. For the design problem simpler models are in use, based on the coupling of an inverse integral shear layer method and an inviscid potential solver, of which only the latter will be mentioned in this presentation. On the other hand, the analysis problem is handled through the complete Navier- Stokes equations, with appropriate turbulence models.
