This paper deals with the minimum variance control of a time-delay system with disturbance, which is expressed by a linear difference equation. The author investigates the feedback control algorithm in order to minimize the mean square error of the output process from the target. He shows that the critically damped behavior of the second-order dynamical system is related to the stability of a time-delay control system. Moreover, he derives a formulation of the minimum variance feedback control algorithm using the discrete analogue of integral control and a time-delay compensation term.
