Consider a symmetric simple random walk starting at 0. With probability one the number of steps to the right will sooner or later be the same as the number of steps to the left. What is the probability that the number of steps to the right will ever be twice (or three times, etc.) the number of steps to the left? Such and related problems are studied for symmetric and certain unsymmetric simple random walks using generating functions and hypergeometric series.
