Bounds on the off-diagonal coefficients of the homogenized constitutive tensor of a composite material (Q1352668)

The authors deal with a simple procedure to compute bounds on the off-diagonal coefficients of the overall constitutive tensor \(\overline C\) of a composite material. This procedure uses two other tensors, say \(C^+\) and \(C^-\), obtained such that both \(C^+ - \overline C\) and \(\overline C - C^-\) are positive-semidefinite. This implies several inequalities to be satisfied by the coefficient of \(\overline C\). In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed procedure, a numerical example is presented.
