The paper develops an improved method for the design of optimal preview servo systems, under the assumption that the future demand signals and the future disturbance signals are polynomials or outputs of a linear free system. The method is based on constructing an enlarged system, to which then optimal control theory is applied. Two algebraic conditions about controllability and observability are derived for the enlarged system, and a simple and convenient algorithm for the designed control law is obtained.
