The authors consider a linear-quadratic optimal control problem for the heat equation. They approximate the solution of the heat equation by a finite series expansion and the control by a linear combination of Chebyshev polynomials. In a numerical example, they present the solution of the resulting finite dimensional problem and compare it to previous work by Di Pillo and Grippo.
