An extended Kalman filter and an adaptive extended Kalman filter are used to estimate the position and the velocity of an exoatmospheric target vehicle. Both filters are found to be unsuitable for estimates using one satellite and angle-only measurements. The estimates can be greatly improved when adding the range measurements or an additional observation satellite.
