The author investigates the asymptotic stability behavior of the collocation method with polynomial splines, applied to a Volterra singular integral equation of Abel type. A matrix transformation lies at the basis of the stability analysis. A simple condition for a special type of stability is obtained. In the last section, applications and numerical examples are presented.
