Full regularity for stationary harmonic maps at the free boundary in the two-dimensional case has been established by the author in [Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 15, No. 2, 151-167 (1998; preceding review)]. Here it is shown that for two-dimensional weakly harmonic maps no isolated singularities can occur at the free boundary.
