On the uniqueness of the Leech lattice (Q1357272)

The author carefully calculates some properties of neighbors and even unimodular lattices. He uses his results to clear up some misstatements and typographical errors from \textit{B. B. Venkov}'s article [Proc. Steklova Inst. Math. 4, 63--74 (1980); translation from Tr. Mat. Inst. Steklova 148, 65--76 (1978; Zbl 0443.10021)], which dealt with, among other things, the uniqueness of the Leech lattice. These errors were unfortunately carried over to the monographs [\textit{J. H. Conway} and \textit{N. J. A. Sloane}, Sphere packings, lattices, and groups, Grundlehren der Mathematik 260 (1982; Zbl 0634.52002) and \textit{W. Ebeling}, Lattices and codes, Vieweg (1994; Zbl 0805.11048)].
