This paper is a continuation of [the authors, ibid. 9, No. 4, 497-530 (1996; Zbl 0871.60063)]. It concerns approximations and bounds of failure rate functions of redundant systems using random processes. This study was done on considering the following cases: (i) a set of three redundant components under Markov assumptions and various types of redundancy: (ii) \(k\)-out-of-\(n\) system (also under Markov assumptions); (iii) Markov systems with independent components (the coherence of the systems is imposed); (iv) a semi-Markov model. -- In each case, the authors find numerical results dealing with the accuracy of the approximations.
