The classical theory of plates (Kirchhoff) leads to certain inconsistencies due to its well-known basic assumptions. The author tries to eliminate these ones by introducing ``rotated moments'' and demonstrates that this approach yields no contradictions. The paper contains also a discussion of publications which doubt the correctness of the classical theory.
