In an earlier paper by \textit{M. Krupnik} and \textit{A. Leibman} [Integral Equations Oper. Theory 23, No. 4, 459-471 (1995; Zbl 0839.15005)] it was proved that the strictly lower triangular part of a nilpotent matrix may be altered to achieve any desired sequence of sizes of the Jordan blocks of the resulting nilpotent matrix, so long as it majorizes the sequence of sizes of the Jordan blocks of the original matrix. In the present paper, this result is extended to include the case of a non-nilpotent matrix.
